BSNL provides tariff concession to paramilitary forces | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 24: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a special tariff plans which was expected to benefit over nine lakh personnel of the paramilitary forces in the country. Official sources said that men of the paramilitary forces, deployed in farflung areas in Jammu and Kashmir would reap the benefit of talking to the members of their families from whom they are away for months. In fact the BSNL has launched two plans, the paramilitary plan and the officer plan. The first plan is meant for the jawans and the second one is for the benefit of the officers. Under the plans jawans and officers can get a daily free talk time for 20 minutes on any two BSNL numbers. Jawans deployed in far-flung areas of the country can talk to their family members anywhere in the country. Official sources said the facility will be free of cost while on roaming. Reports said that this facility was being given to the men of the paramilitary forces in order to facilitate them in escaping home sickness. Senior police officers in Jammu and Kashmir wish the BSNL extend this facility for the police in the troubled state. They said that during the last 21 years men of the police have been tackling various law and order issues and militancy related incidents along with the paramilitary forces. They too deserve this concession and facility. One officer said that if the BSNL has decided to give tariff concession to over nine lakh personnel of the paramilitary forces it should not find it difficult to cover just 1.20 lakh police personnel in Jammu an Kashmir.
