For peaceful summer in valley, Army busy with sports activities | | | Early Times Report ANANTNAG, May 24: With the onset of summer, Jammu and Kashmir police especially Armed Forces present in the valley started a series of sports related activities in every corner of the valley with an aim to develop a good relationship with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to maintain peace and prosperity in the valley. In a bid to develop good relationship with the people of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, who witnessed frequent protests in last year’s summer uprising 1 battalion of Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of 1 sector RR is continuously busy with organizing sports and adventure activities in the district in order to engage the youth with sports activities and to fight against the social problems like drugs, also today for the first time in Sports Stadium Anantnag, organized a motor cycle show, displayed by “Tornadoes” formed in 1982 under the guidance of Col C N Rao, VSM and Late Capt JP Verma, was to promote the initiative taken by Armed forces for building the bridges between the People of valley and Armed Forces. Major Gen Gurdeep Singh, GOC, Victor Force expressed his views, who was the Chief guest of the function who was also accompanied by DC Anantnag and SSP Anantnag R K Jala, said that the efforts of Armed Forces to have a cordial and approachable relationship with people of Kashmir. A total of 25 Motorcyclist/riders performed various heart throbbing stunts. The “Tornadoes Team” received an overwhelming response from laity people of Anantnag. The locals expressed their gratitude towards Army for reaching out to the local populace & were convinced that efforts would further strengthen the public army bond.
