Cabinet to meet on Thursday | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 24: The State Cabinet, which is scheduled to meet here on Thursday under Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is going to take some important decisions regarding return of Salal power project from government of India to the state government, sources told KNS. They said cabinet will pursue the return of the Salal power project from government of India as per the original agreement of 1975 between Jammu and Kashmir and Government of India. The cabinet order of 1975 makes it clear that JK government would be entitled to 50 percent share of power on generation cost from the project. However, the order was never implemented. Sources said that there is consensus among most of the cabinet ministers over the issue. "The cabinet will seek compensation from (government of India) on account of losses suffered due to non-implementation of the order." The cabinet will also discuss nomination of two Information Commissioners to State Information Commission. "The nomination of three new members for Public Service Commission will come for a discussion in the meeting," sources added. Three members of PSC, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, Javed Makhdoomi and Anil Goswami are completing their terms soon. The cabinet, sources told KNS will also give sanction to the creation of professor and assistant professor posts for Dental College Srinagar. "Amendment in Panchyati Raj Act would also come for discussion," they added. |
