BJP seeks resignation of Farooq over Pak remarks | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 25: Reacting sharply to suggestion of National Conference Supremo and Union Minister for Non-Conventional Energy Sources Dr. Farooq Abdullah, BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas has demanded that Farooq Abdullah should resign as Union Minister before making statements which are contrary to Pakistan policy of UPA government of which he is a member. Manhas reminded Dr. Abdullah that it is Pakistan which has been providing its soil to wage proxy war against India and conducting arms training camps for terrorists. Manhas said that Dr. Abdullah should advise Pakistan to dismantle terrorist infrastructure from its territory if he is really sincere about restoration of peace and security in the region. BJP chief said that it is not for the first time that Dr. Abdullah has made casual remarks on sensitive issues related to security of sub-continent. He also accused NC supremo of making opportunistic statements and reminded that it was same Farooq Abdullah who had during BJP-led NDA rule demanded that terrorist training camps in PoK should be attacked and dismantled. Manhas said that Dr. Abdullah is at present Union Minister and should think before going public on such vital issues and if he is not convinced with the UPA’s policy, he should resign for reasons of propriety. He asked the NC leadership, including state Chief Minister to make its stand clear on issues related to Kashmir and Pak-sponsored terrorism. He also sought an explanation from Congress, which is a coalition partner in the state whether it endorses the statements made by Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah on these issues.
