| Legal Metrology books 19 traders, realizes Rs. 15,500 fine | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, May 25- A joint inspection team headed by Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Udhampur inspected various commercial establishments including provisional stores, Karyana shops, Hardware Shops, Sweet Shops and fruit marts in Udhampur town.
The team inspected about 100 shops in Udhampur city, Rehmbal, Garhi, Manthal and Ghordi and 19 traders were booked under various provisions of J&K Weights and Measurements Enforcement Act 1997(JKWMEA), out of which, 16 traders were booked for using unverified weighing instrument and two for selling packages without having print mandatory declarations as required under Package Community Rule 1977.
An amount of Rs 15,500/- has been recovered as compound money till date.
The Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Udhampur directed the traders to use only verified weighing instruments and sell the packages with mandatory declarations of MRP, net weight packed, complete address of the manufacturer and packer along with the consumer help line number.
