| PDD transformer burnt at Sarore | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 25: A transformer of power development department (PDD) was burnt at Sarore adda near Vijaypur, about 25 km from here towards Samba, after it was struck by lightning this evening.
Official sources said after thunderstorm and rains hit the region in the evening, lightning struck the PDD transformer at Sarore adda as a result of which it caught fire.
It was damaged badly in the fire. Sarore and its adjoining areas plunged into darkness after the incident, the sources added.
PDD authorities were trying to replace the damaged transformer with the new one to restore electricity in the area when reports last came in.
