Sham reviews health scenario in Valley | Directs institution heads to stay at hqrs | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, MAY 25- Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the Medical Superintendents/Chief Medical Officers and other officers of health departments who are associated with the administrative affairs to strictly follow the guidelines while implementing various centrally sponsored schemes in the State. While chairing the review meeting of health department here today, the Minister cautioned those violating the norms and said that erring officers will be dealt sternly. He also took serious note of misuse of official vehicles, particularly the ambulances; he issued strict warning to all to curb this practice and said that ambulances should only be used for shifting the patients. He said that misuse of vehicles will not be tolerated and anybody found violating the standing instructions would be punished appropriately. Stressing the need for improving the medicare facilities in all the government health institutions, the Minister said that to provide better health care is a noble profession and doctors and para-medics should discharge their duties with missionary zeal and maintain the dignity of the profession. He maintained that Government has initiated numerous steps to improve the working environment in hospitals and it is duty of the doctors to provide best services to the people. He stressed upon all heads of the institutions to make every official accountable for achieving better results. In order to enhance the efficacy in the government institutions, the Minister directed all the Medical Superintendents and other doctors to ensure their stay at their headquarters, adding that they should seek prior permission from the competent authority before leaving the station and maintain the movement registers. He directed the Director Health Services to monitor the movement of each doctor. Regarding transfer policy in the department, the Minister made it clear that after completion of two years mandatory tenure, all the employees should be replaced by other officials. Reiterating the decision taken by the Government that no attachment should be allowed, the Minister issued fresh instructions not to attach any officer/official. “Any officer found not adhering to the instructions, shall be personally liable for the lapse”, he asserted. Mission Director, NRHM Dr. Yashpal Sharma and Director Health Services, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman briefed the Minister about the performance of the department and the steps initiated by the Government to improve the functioning. All Medical Superintendents and other officers of the health department were present in the meeting. |
