Cong has no right to criticise NC on autonomy
PDP looses moral right to stay in coalition:Omer
11/21/2006 11:49:43 PM

Srinagar, Nov 21
National Conference President Omer Abdullah said here on Tuesday that Congress has no right to criticise his party on autonomy issue and claimed that National Conference is no longer the product of Congress party. Launching a scathing attack on JKPCC President Peerzada Mohad Sayeed and Congress MP Lal Singh for criticizing National Conference on autonomy issue during a public rally in Jammy, Omer Abdullah said "Who are Peerzada and Lal Singh? They don't understand the meaning of autonomy. Even the Prime Minister of India endorsed this plank. Better for them to work on their own party agenda".
Claiming that the slogans of local congress leaders won't work here, Omer said " National Conference has not been formed with the blessing of these politicians. We are not the products of congress and henceforth the party ceases the right to criticise National Conference".
When asked about the unprecedented increase in political activities of National Conference leaders, Omer said " Elections are round the corner and announcement of election schedule is expected any time. We are preparing for elections". When asked about non participation of National Conference in working group meetings, Omer said " there is nothing new in it. We believe that there has been no decline in human rights violations in the state. The commitment of Prime Minister's Zero tolerance is no where visible in the state. The killing of a youth in custody at Pakherpora is an eye opener for those claiming decline in human rights violations".
When asked for a comment on Chief Minister's appeal over the issue of non participation of his party in working groups , Omer said "Appeals are not going to work. Let Chief Minister change the ground situation in Jammu & Kashmir State.
Saying that National Conference will prefer a wait and watch situation on the issue of human rights violations for next six months, Omer while replying to another questioned claimed that if his party would be sharing power with Congress like PDP, it would have pulled out from the coalition immediately. Elaborating Omer said that since Congress is openly criticizing PDP, the party looses the right to stay in coalition on moral grounds.
