Tarigami for scientific, practicable measures to check accidents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, MAY 25: House Committee of Legislative Assembly constituted to look into the causes of road accidents in erstwhile Doda district, has decided to constitute a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu with District besides Development Commissioners of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur besides other senior officers of Transport, Traffic Police, R&B, Beacon as members. The Committee has been asked to submit its report within three weeks, recommending measures needed to offset incidence of road mishaps. The Committee which met here today with M. Y. Tarigami has called upon general people interested in recording their observation or suggestions regarding measures needed to be taken for reducing road mishaps and safeguarding human life. In another significant decision, the Committee has asked Transport, R&B, Beacon and Traffic Police Departments to put forward their departmental-specific assessment of the causes responsible for causing accidents in these hilly districts. The department have been directed to recommend practicable measures to sort out the problem effectively. Addressing the meeting, Tarigami said that the issue needs to be deliberated on wider canvas for formulation of comprehensive report. The report, he said, has to be practicable, scientific indicating pragmatic measures to check the incidence of frequent mishaps once and for all. Principal Secretary, R&B, Mr. K. B. Aggarwal, Commissioner Secretary, Transport, Dr. G. R. Ghoni, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Kashmir, Mr. Vijay Kumar, Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, Mr. D. L. Shama and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat, Beacon, Transport, Home and R&B departments were present in the meeting.
