Alleging incomplete syllabus, Law students stage protest over date sheet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 25: Agitated over the alleged non-completion of the syllabus while the examination notification was issued by the Department of Law, students today went on rampage at University of Jammu here. A group of law department students led by the student leaders, this morning amid slogans, created furore outside the Administration Block of University of Jammu over circulation of date sheet. The students from the Department of Law, University of Jammu, alleged that the authorities had issued the notification for the examination and also the date sheet has been finalised and circulated to the Department but the syllabus is not yet finished. “How can the authorities issue the date sheet when the syllabus is still incomplete… It is not possible for the students to appear in the examination under such circumstances… The University has to give some relaxation,” a student leader said. He said that either the University authorities have to give some concession in the syllabus or conduct examination only after completing the syllabus. The protesting students however, were restricted from entering the administration block by the university security guards following which, they went on rampage and smashed the windows panes and furniture. “The out of control students further tried to ‘gherao’ the Dean Academic Affairs but he bolted his chamber from inside and called the police,” an eye witness said. Meanwhile with the intervention of senior officials the students later dispersed.
