Four feared dead as car plunges into Chenab | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 25: At least four persons were feared dead after a car, which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar, skidded off the national highway at Seri in Ramban and fell into Chenab river. There were said to be four persons in the ill-fated car (JK02AJ/3472) and all of them were feared dead, police sources said. Though police were yet to establish the identity of the car occupants, sources said a wallet, which was found lying near the accident site, carried the identity card of one Varun Anand of Shastri Nagar. The incident occured at about 7.30 pm when it was raining slightly. Sources said the car could have fallen into the river due to slippery road conditions. The Ramban police had launched an operation in search for the bodies, but they had not been able to find any till late tonight.Sources said the operation was suspended after midnight and would be launched again Thursday morning. |
