Flagship programmes, schemes not delivering in Ramnagar: Pathania | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 27: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress has come down heavily upon the local administration for failing to create any impact in implementation of flagship programmes and centrally-sponsored schemes like PMGSY, UIDSSMT, RGGVY, MGNREGA, IHSDP, IAY, SSA, NRHM, NABARD and ADB-funded projects, IWDP in Ramnagar. In a meeting of prominent persons held at Ramnagar under the chairmanship of RS Pathania, it was held that there are inherent handicaps and discrepancies in the planning as well execution part of these schemes. Hundred of crores have been pumped in Ramnagar but true goods of these schemes have not percolated upto the grassroots level. Worse-more, beneficiaries of these schemes are being selected on political considerations thereby debarring the actually-deserving people of their true benefits. The dogma of ‘single-line administration’ has given fullest power to legislators to disuse as well as misuse the operation of these centrally sponsored schemes and use them for petty political gains and vote-bank politics. Payment of compensation to farmers and house dwellers affected by creation of fresh roads and widening of existing roads under PMGSY has not been effected even after the expiry of fives and tens of years. While compiling a detailed memorandum addressed to Chief Minister, of all such individual violations and rule-deviations, Pathania has sought taking of immediate remedial measures so as to prevent loss to public exchequer and disadvantage caused to the general public.
