| DIC organizes Inter School symposium | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, May 26- The District Information Center, Udhampur, organized an Inter School symposium on “Biodiversity conservation” at Government Middle School, Rattian here today.
As many as, 10 students from different schools including Government Middle School Rathian, Govt. Middle School Meldi, Government Primary School Ballian and Indria Memorial Higher Secondary School, Rathian participated in the contest and depicted their serious concern over the depletion of forest land in the surroundings and stressed for their conservation for the survival of human being.
Sarpanch of Panchayat Rathian, Mr. Puran Chand was the chief guest while Headmaster of the host school, Mr. Manhor Lal Verma presided over the function.
Miss Pooja Devi of Primary School Ballian adjudged first while Miss Nitika Sharma of Indria Memorial Higher Secondary School and Miss Manisha Sharma of Middle School Rathian stood 2nd and 3rd respectively in the debate contest. Besides Miss Jyoti Devi and Shymali Devi both of Middle School Rathian begged consolation prizes.
While speaking on the occasion, the Sarpanch appreciated the efforts of Information Department for holding such contest in the rural areas. He said that such type of contest would definitely provide a platform to budding students to channelize their talent in a right direction.
During the contest, Mr. Vinay Gupta, Mrs Nusrat Bano and Mrs Archana Sharma were acted as judges while Mr. Anil Kumar conducted the proceeding of the programme.
The Information Department also distributed prizes and certificates among the participants.
