4131 Sarpanches to be trained in Disaster Preparedness; | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 26:Additional DGP Civil Defence, Home Guards and Auxiliary Police J&K Dr Ram Labhaya interacted with Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon and discussed various issues pertaining to Disaster Management.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir announced that land would be identified in all multi hazard districts for establishment of civil defence stores and offices. Instructions were issued to all Deputy Commissioners to organise awareness programmes for the general public in collaboration with Civil Defence. Addl DGP announced that at present the Valley has only 9 Civil Defence towns but instructions have been issued for establishing Civil Defence in all important villages of the State. It was decided to organise Disaster preparedness training for 4,131 Sarpanches of the State which include 2,164 from Kashmir. Later all the 29,919 Panches of the State would also be trained. It was desired that School safety programme which has recently started from Govt High School Pantha Chowk would be extended to all the schools. It was also decided that Civil Defence would organise a two day seminar on Disaster Management which would be attended by all the stake holders from Government and Non Government organsisations. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mehraj Ahmed Kakroo, Saifuddin, Commandant Auxillary Police, Rafiq Ahmed, Dy Controller, Civil Defence, Omar Nedou, Chief Warden, Mauzam Bakshi, Dy Chief Warden, Aamir Ali, Divisional Warden and other senior officers.
