Bhalla inspects upcoming multipurpose projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGR, May 26:Srinagar city will get a state-of-the art all season mega marriage-cum-community hall by the end of June this year which will facilitate 15 lakh population inhabiting the interior city. The complex will also serve as tourist attraction. This was stated by the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla while having spot review of custodian property at Kathidarwaza, Batapora and Gagribal. At Kathidarwaza, the Minister inspected ongoing construction work of the marriage hall-cum-community centre being carried out at a cost of Rs. 15 crore including the cost of land. The Minister was informed that the upcoming complex will have 22 rooms and two separate centrally heated marriage halls with capacity to accommodate 400 and 280 persons at a time, for all seasons, apart from having parking facilities for 400 vehicles at a time. The Minister was also informed that 4 and a half kanal of additional land costing Rs. 1.50 crore has been acquired in front of the complex to make it more viable and attractive. The additional amenities like slaughter house, cooking shed, shopping complex and restaurant would also be available under single roof. At Batapora, the Minister inspected the orchard land comprising 39 kanals, and was informed that the land was previously given on lease to a private society on a throw away price which was later cancelled and retrieved by the government. He directed the concerned officers to plant high quality fruit plants to make it self-sustaining. Later, the Minister visited Gagribal and inspected 8 kanals of custodian land in the lap of Shankaracharya. He was shown the blueprint of the plan outlining its usage. The Custodian General, Latif-ul-Zaman Deva and Custodian Evacuee Property, Kashmir, Mohammad Akbar Bhat and other senior officers accompanied the Minister.
