Comm Taxes deptt records 26.34 % growth in Jammu division: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 26 - The Commercial Taxes Department, has realized a revenue of Rs. 1916.10 crore in Jammu division during 2010-11 recording a growth of 26.34 percent to 2009-2010 which was Rs. 1516.66 crore. This was informed by Minister for Finance and Planning, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather while reviewing the achievement in revenue realization in the department at a high level meeting convened here today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rather urged upon the officers to attain optimum revenue realization by proper management of all aspects of taxation besides plugging the loopholes. A detailed discussion was held on number of dealers registered, returns pertains to different quarters, assessment under VAT, Extra demand under GST, Position of Assessment under GST, detail about Tax Audit, Refund claimed and many other issues in the meeting. Presenting the achievements of Jammu Division for the year 2010-11Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, Jammu, Vaneeta Gupta, informed the meeting that revenue achievements for the Jammu Division The Minister had a detailed review of the functioning of various wings and circles of the department. He stressed upon a transparent and hassle-free services to the dealers at the Checkposts. He observed that the nature of seizures and the average amount of penalty recovered suggests need for improvement in this area so that scope of harassment to the traders is minimized. The Minister, while reviewing the functioning of each Commercial Tax Circle, instructed the Commercial Tax Officers for making the system more trader-friendly and strictly deal with the incidences of tax evasion. He also emphasized the need of frequent inspections and efficient conduct of Tax-Audit and Audit Assessments. He assured full support to all the functionaries of the department in the issues pertaining to administration and taxation. The Minister exhorted upon the officers to work with added zeal, dedication and devotion to yield optimum results. He also hailed the efforts of the department for surpassing the targets. The Minister reiterated government’s commitment to provide a congenial and cordial atmosphere for the trade and industry to flourish to its fullest. Commissioner/Secretary Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey, Commissioner Commercial Taxes Mr. G A Peer, Additional Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Jammu, Vaneeta Gupta, Additional Commissioner, (Tax Planning) P. I. Khateen, Deputy Commissioners CT Audit, DC CT Judicial, DC CT Stamps, DC CT Lakhanpur, DC CT Recovery, and other senior officer were present in the meeting.
