Sham inspects Rs 8 cr upcoming Unani hospital | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 26: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma today paid visit to the construction site of Government Unani Hospital at Shaltang and took stock of the status of the project. He set June 25th, 2011 as deadline to the engineers for accomplishing the job and handing over the possession of the building to the department so that the hospital can start its functioning immediately. Talking to the media persons after the inspection, the Minister said that government was keen to promote AYUSH in the State as the traditional treatment is picking up in the State. On completion, the 50-bed hospital would open up for the people of entire Kashmir Valley. The hospital would have the facilities of CT scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Panchkarma, Yoga, Sona bath, Regimental therapy, surgeries, indoor and outdoor facilities, said Sham. This is the first full-fledged Unani hospital in the Valley in which the government will ensure quality medicare at par with Allopathic sector. He called upon the people to avail services of the Unani hospital also.The engineers briefed the Minister about the status of the building and apprised that project is at the final stage. It was informed that funds to the tune of Rs. 5.70 crore have been spent till date, out of the total estimated cost of Rs. 7.65 crore. Later, the Minister also inspected the Provincial Medical Store at Barzulla here. He directed the concerned to maintain the stores properly and carry necessary renovation of the building. He also directed for updating the computerized records to ensure efficiency and transparency in the system. Director Health Services, Dr Saleem-ur- Rehman and Mission Director, NRHM Dr.Yashpal Sharma also accompanied the Minister.
