BJP sympathizers accuse party High Command for rebellion in J&K unit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 27: The Central leadership of BJP is also facing stiff opposition for the rebellion in State unit as majority of the sympathizers of the Party in the state accuse the Party High Command in Delhi for the prevailing mess in its J&K unit. The majority of people who voted in favour of BJP during 2008 elections in Jammu region to express their solidarity with those forces who took a lead against the then state Government which cancelled the allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board in Valley alleged that the High Command in Delhi never bothered to put its house in order in J&K. According to high placed sources the internal bickering in the state unit started soon after the Constitution of State Assembly over the election of Legislative Party leader after the Party tried to thrust its own candidate as the LP leader. But this decision was rejected by majority of MLAs at that time who strongly advocated for the election of Prof Gupta as BJP LP leader. Sources said that some senior leaders in Delhi who also played a spoil sport right from 2008 elections after party got 11 seats in the state were never happy that Prof Gupta should emerge as the strong leader of the Party in the state and they tried to create hurdles in his way. Even his plea of nominating Anil Gupta as the party candidate for the Lok Sabha elections in 2009 from Udhampur Doda Parliamentary Constituency was also no conceded. Though junior Gupta assured the Party High Command that chances of his victory were more possible than any other Party nominee, sources added. Criticizing the state leadership as well as the High Command the majority of the sympathizers of the Party said that double standards adopted by the Central leadership led to present turmoil in the party which is on the verge of vertical spilt. How can the High Command blame the seven MLAs now when it never bothered to look into the Party affairs in the state during the past two and half years, said Ramesh Kumar of Raipur Damana a staunch supporter of the Party. ``Had the Party High Command acted in time the situation could have been saved from taking a critical turn and there would have been no rebellion in BJP’’, he said, adding the Party’s failure to act in time has demoralized its cadres. Not only Ramesh but hundreds of BJP cadres question the High Command and Central leadership for ignoring the Jammu and Kashmir state unit altogether. The strengthening of BJP in this part of the country is more in the national interests, said Asha Devi another staunch supporter of Party from Bani. The Party has fought many battles in state for its total integration with Union of India right from 1947 besides leading the national cause in the state, she said, adding one recalls the days when there were only two MLAs of Jan Sangh in the Assembly in late sixties and they were roaring like lions in the House and championing the cause of the nationalist people in the state but one fails to understand what happened to this party now. People had pinned high hopes in BJP as its leadership were claiming that it is a party with a difference but this all proved wrong, said Ram Chnader of Gurrah Bakshinagar. The MLAs whom people voted in 2008 Assembly poll betrayed them and whom can people trust now, he added. There is a lot of feeling among youngsters who feel betrayed to join PDP now as BJP has failed to come upto their expectations, said Vipal Gupta a youth. The BJP which gained the sympathy of people in Amarnath agitation has played with the sentiments of the Jammuites and people can’t forget them, he added. However the staunch followers of the Party blame state, central leadership as well as RSS for their failure in putting the BJP’s house in order in the state. The lenient approach shown by the High Command and RSS the parental organization of party in bringing truce in the state unit led to its vertical spilt, they added.
