| Diploma Engineers call on Mohammad Dilawar Mir | | |
Jammu, Nov 21 A deputation of Jammu and Kashmir Diploma Engineers Association today called on the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Horticulture and Tourism Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir and sought his intervention for re-structuring of SRO 297 to rationalize promotional avenues for the Junior Engineers Cadre. The deputation also urged for amending promotional norms prescribed in the service rules of 1987 and its appended annexure SRO 209 of 1992 so that prescribed quota of 20 percent is fully utilized at all levels in favour of Diploma Engineers. The deputation led by its President Mr. R. S. Jasrotia alleged that existing promotion rules are also detrimental to the interest of Junior Engineers cadre pleading that all Junior Engineers having 15 years of service should be re-designated as Assistant Engineers-II with Gazetted status. This will be a sort of social dispensation package for Junior Engineers, he added. The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and assured to convene a high level meeting with the concerned officers to work out a viable solution of the problem. |
