Will Yatra row help sail BJP's 'sinking boat'.....? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 26 : State unit of BJP facing political turmoil from within on account of various reasons is surely a directionless outfit at present looking out desperately for the issues to take on government as biggest opposition party from Jammu. It has not been a able to make a forceful dent to hit out at government in massive way for along time, the preoccupations with cross voting bickering having drained out time and its space on the political front. At a time when its political boat appears to be sinking, will Amarnath Yatra row come to its rescue and provide hard base to start afresh on the Jammu centric issues.....? Even as the party leadership has been making statements supportive of the cause taken up by the SAYN and other sister organisations, it took a formal plunge into the campaign today when its youth wing BJYM staged protest demonstration outside Rajbhavan against SASB. It is surely seen as beginning of BJP's active politics on the issue and will continue, rather get intensified in days to come. With almost all Hindu organisations adamant starting annual Holy Amarnath Yatra from June 15, the stage is certainly all set for the face off between Shri Amarnath Yatri Niyas and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, both taking diverse courses on the date of commencement as also the period pilgrimage should last. Joining of BJP's youth in the series of protests came as a big support from any political party so far. The sister organisations like VHP, Bajrang Dal have already announced their unflinching support to SAYN over its programme and schedule which it runs parallel to the government owned SASB. What shape this 'battle' between the two bodies takes in days to come remains to be seen but at this point of time it is interesting to watch plunge of BJP into the 'warfare' on religious and emotional front of these organisations spearheading the cause for continuance of Yatra for two months. That BJP has always been supportive of such issues is nothing new. What makes it rather interesting and worth observing is the fact that the its 'own House' of BJP as a political outfit is not in order. Things have not been settled on the front of cross voting issue nor central discplinary action commitee has yet come out with any concrete decision. Certain matter related to issue has also gone to court. Moreover the Legislative Party of 11 MLAs is at present seen in two divided groups with both daggers drawn against each otehr particularly over the leadership issue. It is worthwhile to recall that members numbering as big as 11 got elected to state Assembly during 2008 elections mainly on the slogan and plank of 'Bum Bum Bhole' which resounded for over two months during the Amarnath land row agitation. Now this issue has come as handy one at a time when the whole unit is caught up in internal problems, even as the leadership is trying to put up a 'normal' face and carrying on with normal political activities. The 'vast' boat of at least Legislative party is verge of sinking, perhaps awaiting a last jolt to finally break up. The moot question remains can the party reap the benefits of the Yatra row this time in a manner it harvested during 2008...? |
