Omar extends another breather to unemployed engineers

SRINAGAR, May 27: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today approved enhancement to the quantum of works for self-help-groups from present Rs. 25 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs.
“This would increase working orbit of the self-help-groups and encourage them to take higher responsibility of undertaking bigger projects,” he said and stressed on promotion of self-help-groups culture in the state. Chairing a high level meeting to review implementation of guidelines for allotting works to self-help-groups operating in rural development departments, Chief Minister asked for fresh registration of the groups and their categorization according to the capacity to work.
By directing fresh registration for self-help-groups, Chief Minister has opened new avenues of jobs and independent livelihood earning opportunities to unemployed engineers, who can organize themselves into groups and get the benefits of the scheme. “More capacity building would earn further enhancement to the allotment of works limit,” Omar said and directed for encouraging and providing every facility and help to the engineers intending to organize themselves in self-help-groups.
Meeting was attended by the Minister for Higher Education and Labour, Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for R&B, Javed Ahmad Dar, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary PDD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Mehboob Iqbal and various other senior officers.
Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to implement the guidelines for allotting works to the self-help-groups in letter and spirit. And help the engineering graduates to earn their independent livelihood besides rendering service for quality implementation of development schemes.
