Nehru remembered on his death anniversary | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 27: Rich tributes were paid to first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary by the Congress party throughout the State. The main function was held at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk, which was presided over by senior vice president PCC Dharam Pal Sharma and attended by senior functionaries of PCC, DCC, leaders of frontal organisations, block presidents and others. The speakers paid floral tributes to Pt. Nehru who was described as the architect of modern India. In his address Dharam Pal Sharma described Nehru as a great visionary leader who laid the sound foundation of independent India as a first Prime Minister. He was one of the tallest leaders of the world under whose stewardship India progressed on all fronts and play a very important role in the affairs of the World. Om Chopra, president District Congress Committee Jammu Urban also paid rich tributes and described Nehru as a towering personality whose thoughts, policies and programmes are relevant and guiding factors for all the times to come. He also thrust upon the need for the Congress party to regularly review its role to different situations which immerge From time to time. Several others who paid tributes included S. Gurmukh Singh former minister & vice president PCC, Ravinder Sharma-MLC general secretary & spokesman, S. Amolak Singh-general secretary, Indu Pawar-MLA & president Pradesh Mahila Congress, Kuldeep Raj Verma-vice chairman OBC board, Kanta Bhan-general secretary, Ram Sudhir, Krishan Lal Gupta, K.L. Abrol, Chuni Lal Bhat, Rashid Choudhary-president NSUI, Dewan Singh Langeh, B.B. Gupta, S.S. Shangari, S. Jaswant Singh, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Lalita Sharma, Iqbal Malik, Vijay Sharma, J L Koul, Om Prakash, Sukhdev Choudhary, Narinder Gupta, Pawan Singh, Sunil Kumar, Shashi Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Chamail Singh and others.
