| Nyas, BJP chair joint meet on Shri Amarnath yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 27: Shri Amarnath Yatri Nyas President Surinder Mohan Aggarwal, alongwith BJP state general secretary Sat Sharma chaired a meeting of prominent activists of various social, political and religious organizations of areas falling under Udhampur district and finalized the schedule for commencement of holy yatra from June 14. Aggarwal said that Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has taken a unilateral decision to curtail the yatra and it has witnessed widespread resentment among the Hindus. He said that this yatra had been undertaken in the past according to the religious rituals of Hindus and its period was of almost two months. By taking a decision to reduce it by 15 days, SASB has hurt the sentiments of Baba Amarnath devotees and if the decision is not withdrawn the coming days may have to face another 2008 type agitation. Sat Sharma said that the religious festival and pilgrims have their own significance and their dates and duration can be decided by an individual or a group of few people. He told the SASB chairman not to test the patience of the religious devotees and rather concentrate on providing basic facilities to the visiting yatris. Som Raj Khajuria, Pawan Gupta, Subash Gupta, Dharmeshwar Gupta, Pawan Khajuria, Dina Nath Bhagat, Swami Dharmender Anand were present in the meeting.
