Violence level likely to show upward trend | Infiltration of militants | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 27: Whether the Army functionaries are correct in saying that there has been no infiltration of militants from across the LOC in recent weeks or the intelligence agencies and chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, are to be trusted when they say that 30 to 40 militants have sneaked into Jammu and Kashmir is not as important as is the plan of militants for destabilizing peace in the state. Government agencies have reports that determined efforts were being made by the Pakistani agencies for pushing into Jammu a Kashmir groups of militants so that the level of subversive violence could be increased. Official reports maintain that during the last one month, more than 30 militants, including half a dozen self-styled commanders had been killed by the security forces and between eight and 10 rebels had either surrendered or were arrested from various areas of the state. Sources said that following fears that Pakistani, troops may be asked to carry out major and multidimensional operations against terrorists activists belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul, terrorist belonging to these organisations may try to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir to escape arrest and elimination. Government circles apprehend that some Talibans too may infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir to avoid getting killed by Pakistani troops. Reports said that heavy polling in ongoing Panchayat elections, despite call for boycott of poll by the separatists, has upset the Pakistani agencies and hence they were trying to push into Jammu and Kashmir as many groups of terrorists as possible so that the current lull in the state was followed by a storm in the shape of rise in the level of subversive violence.
