Two IGNOU learners from Jammu get Gold Medals.
IGNOU holds 23rd convocation

Jammu, May 27:- Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today organized its 23rd Convocation in the Auditorium of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (Abhinav Theatre),
Vice Chancellor, Baba Gulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Prof. I A Hamal, J&K was the Chief Guest on this occasion and awarded Degrees and Diplomas to the eligible Learners.
A total of 625 learners from Regional Centre Jammu were successfully declared eligible to receive Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees out of which 240 learners were awarded Degrees and Diplomas in the Convocation function at Jammu.
Prof. Lokesh Verma, Head, Deptt. Of Education, University of Jammu and Coordinator of IGNOU Programme Study Centre1272-P presented the students of Schools of Education, Vocational Education, Continuing Education, Engineering Technology, Sciences & Health Sciences to the Chief Guest. Prof. Devanand, Prof. Devnand, Head Deptt. Of Computer Sciences, University of Jammu presented the students of School of Computer & Information Sciences to the Chief Guest. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Coordinator IGNOU Study Centre 1232, Govt. MAM College, Jammu presented the students of School of Humanities to the Chief Guest. Ashok Braroo, Consultant, RC Jammu presented the students of Schools of Social Sciences, Social Work, Tourism & Hospitality Management and Journalism & Mass Media Studies to the Chief GuestVikram Singh and Dr. Sandeep Gupta, ARDs at the Regional Centre Jammu presented the students of School of Management Studies to the Chief Guest.
Two Learners from Regional Centre Jammu namely Kapil Chadha of MBA programme in Banking & Finance and Mayank Pasbola of Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management Programme have brought laurels to the State of Jammu and Kashmir in general and to the Jammu region in particular by getting Gold Medals in their respective programmes.
Prof. Hamal appreciated the role and importance of distance education keeping in view the resources and the need to extend Higher Education to rural areas where many seekers and aspirants of Education are not in a position to avail access to the formal and conventional system of Education. Prof. Hamal, Chief Guest on the occasion, brought to the notice the contribution of IGNOU in ODL System of Education where IGNOU is the largest University in terms of Student Enrollment, particularly in the Higher Education. Ashok Braroo, Consultant RC Jammu presented the vote of thanks.
