Rather reviews functioning of Jammu treasuries | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 28- The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, MrAbdul Rahim Rather today asked the Treasury officers to maintain financial discipline and act as real guardians of state's exchequer. Speaking at a high level periodic review meeting of Accounts and Treasuries Department, Rather asked the officers to adhere to the set norms in cash management to ensure transparency and judicious use of the public exchequer. “You are the guardians of the public money and honest delivery system in treasuries is key to put up a people friendly face of the government”, Rather added. The Minister reviewed the audit paras and other object heads, besides overall performance of previous financial year of each treasury of the division. The Minister inquired about the transactions and liabilities made during the previous year. He impressed upon the TOs to device an efficient cash management mechanism for ensuring support smooth drawl and disbursement of bills. The Minister said that the Government was keen to ensure welfare of the employees of accounts and treasuries department. He however said that while the service interests of the employees would be safeguarded, the non-performing officers would face strict action. The issue of computerization of the treasures of the division also came under discussion, about which the Minister was told about the progress made so far in the implementation of the computerization project. The Director General Accounts and Treasuries gave a brief resume of the functioning of the department and highlighted various achievements of the department.
