PDP demands Naulakha’s immediate release | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 28: The PDP has demanded immediate release of the noted Human rights activist Gautam Naulakha and his colleague who were reportedly taken into custody on their arrival at Srinagar Airport today.Condemning the detention of Naulakha a party spokesman said this was an unprecedented action even by the standards of serious rights violations in Jammu & Kashmir. He said Naulakha’s liberty to enter the state and move freely should be restored as even in worst phases of trouble such draconian methods have never been adopted. The spokesman said the party had been informed that Gautam Naulakha had arrived today from Delhi along with a colleague on a visit of Kashmir. Gautam was reportedly asked to return from the Airport itself. But, as there was no return flight available today he was advised to be taken to Jammu by road which he refused, apprehending trouble at the hands of extremist elements there. Gautam was reportedly later taken to an unidentified destination by the police. The spokesman said Omar Abdullah had converted Kashmir into a virtual prison where expression of speech has been completely denied to every body that raises his voice against its atrocities. The denial of entry to Naulakha was part of the same undemocratic strategy under which leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani,, Mirwaiz Omar Farooq, Mohd Yaseen Malik and Shabir Ahmed Shah are now routinely put under house arrest while most others are languishing in jails along with hundreds of youth from various parts of the valley.
