IT given "unaccounted" cash recovered from man, son at Samba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 28: Police today recovered an unaccounted cash of Rs 12.5 lakh from a man and his son at Samba and handed it over to income tax (IT) authorities. They were identified as Haji Abdul Kabir Dar, son of Khaliq Dar of Bachi, Shopian, and his son Mohammad Ayub. SSP, Samba, Israr Khan said cops signalled a car (JK22/1588) to stop for checking at Mansar Morh, Samba. However, when its operator ignored the signal, the cops chased the car and soon overtook it, he added. While frisking the Haji, cops recovered the cash which was tied to his waist with a cloth. The notes were in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and 500. The SSP said during their questioning, it was found that the duo dealt in raw material for plywood and plyboard and the cash payment had been made to them by a businessman of Jagadri, Punjab. As there was no mention of the cash in the account books of the two parties, it turned out to be case of tax evasion. The cash was therefore handed over to IT authorities, Khan informed.
