Jammu youth goes missing from ship in Australia | Family appeals CM to take up matter with Austrailain embassy | | EARLY TIMES Report JAMMU, May 28: A youth of Ramgarh town of Vijaypur near here was stated to have gone missing from the ship of a Japanese company in Australia. Bikram Singh (31) worked as deputy chief officer on a ship owned by Japanese company -- Motsui Osk-Lines. His father Ghar Singh, an ex-corporator of Ramgarh, told The Early Times that he called up home Tuesday from Australia and told that they were now on their way to Singapore. Someone, however, telephoned them from the company's Mumbai office Friday and told them that Bikram had gone missing from the ship under mysterious circumstances. Quoting the caller, Ghar said Bikram was on duty till midnight on Tuesday and had gone to his cabin after dinner. The crew members had come to know about his absence from the ship next morning. The Australian police had seized the ship and carried out Bikram's search in the sea waters in helicopters, but they had not found any clue to his whereabouts till Saturday. Ghar appealed to chief minister Omar Abdullah to take up the matter with the Australian embassy in New Delhi to expedite efforts to find out his missing son. He said the chief minister should come to their help in this hour of grief. |
