Fine Arts clinches in Classical Competition
The result of Essay writing declared

JAMMU NOV 21
Institute of Music and Fine Arts clinched first position in Classical Vocal (Solo) competition organized by the Dept. of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent Contest 2006-07” here today.
Naveen Sharma and Ranjeet Singh Kotach, both from Instt. of Music and Fine Arts, were adjudged first and second respectively in the Classical Vocal (Solo) while third position was bagged by Abhijit Singh Sudan of MBS College of Engineering and Technology. Mamta Kalotra from GWC, Gandhi Nagar bagged Certificate of Merit. The students presented Raga Yaman, Bageshwari, Miyan Malhar, Sudh Kalyan and Aheer Bhairav. P.N. Raina and Ashutosh Mangotra were among the adjudicators
In the evening session, Classical Instrumental Solo Percussion and Non-percussion competitions were held. In Percussion, Neha Talwar from GDC, Parade was adjudged first while Daniel Sidhu from Instt. of Music and Fine Arts and Pallav Kapoor from MBS College secured second and third prize respectively. Rakesh Sharma of Instt. of Music and Fine Arts secured Certificate of Merit.
In Non-percussion, Naveen Sharma from Instt. of Music and Fine Arts bagged first prize, Namrata Sharma from GWC, Parade and Sonia Sharma from Instt. of Music and Fine Arts secured second and third prize. Certificate of Merit was awarded to Pooja Sharma from GWC, Parade.
K.L. Verma, B.S. Sachar and Sami Feroz were among the jury members in the Classical Instrumental Percussion whereas Vachaspati Sharma and T.K. Jalali were the experts for Classical Instrumental Non- percussion.
Later on, the results of “On the Spot Essay Writing Competition” was also declared in which Swati Raina from GWC, Gandhi Nagar clinched first prize while Neha Sadhotra of GWC, Udhampur and Amita Malothra of P.G. Dept. of Chemistry were declared second and third resptively. Certificate of Merit were awarded to Anirudh Khajuria of Dept. of Psychology and Satinder Kour of Dept. of Environmental Sciences, JU.
