Sham inaugurates newly constructed park | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 29 – Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma on Sunday inaugurated a newly constructed park at Batehra on Jammu- Poonch National highway named as Veer Ram Chander park. The Park developed by the Floriculture department has eye catching landscape and flower beds of different species with tiled pathways and a large number of tress. Speaking on the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma highlighted the importance of creating more and more green areas to protect the earth from the impending dangers of global warming and abnormal climatic changes. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the floriculture department in developing new parks in the state. He exhorted upon the officers to work with missionary zeal and dedication to save the historical gardens of the state. He also instructed the concerned officers to redouble their efforts for proper up keep of the prestigious parks along the National highway from Lakhanpur to Poonch wayside which are being visited by lakhs of domestic and foreign tourists. He also visited various areas of the garden and asked the officers for certain improvement in existing infrastructure. He said that a religious tourism project is in offing in the Akhnoor areas to attract more tourists. He also said that many new parks have been proposed to be developed along Jammu - Srinagar National highway and the lands are being acquired for this purpose. He said some historical Mughal Parks in Kashmir will also be upgraded.
