GDCT celebrates foundation day

JAMMU, MAY 29 – The Minister for Medical, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr R S Chib, Minister for Revenue, Mr Raman Bhalla and Member Legislative Council, Ravinder Sharma, today gave away Rs 5 lakh each to Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust(GDCT) out of their constituency development fund for development of infrastructure in the institutions being run by the Trust.
The Ministers who attended the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust foundation Day function here today appreciated the commendable job the Trust has been doing for the growth and development of the community youth by imparting quality academic and technical education at its institutions.
They said that the present government has taken series of measures to provide all basic amenities to the Gujjar Basties, besides making far reaching arrangements for extending educational, health and other services to the community.
Highlighting the role of the community in maintaining peace in the state, the Ministers said that the community has always defended the state from the internal and external enemies both during war and peace times. They also referred to the problems faced by the community in the backdrop of eruption of militancy and said that the community suffered a lot during the past twenty years of violence which also affected their social and economic prospects.
Earlier, the Trust management highlighted various demands of the community and sought the intervention of the ministers in securing the redressal of the same.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion by the students of the institutions being run by the Trust.
Later, the ministers distributed awards among the students who had excelled in academics and co-curricular activities during the last academic session.
Among other, Chairman, Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) Mr. Hassam Ali, Chief Patron GDCT and former VC BGSBU Mr. Masood Choudhary besides other representatives of the institution present on the occasion.
