| Young Heroes clinches 1st Basantgarh Open Volleyball Championship | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
BASANTGARH (UDHAMPUR), May 29:
The 1st Basantgarh Open Volleyball Championship was organized by Basantgarh Sports Federation under the Chairpersonship Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma.
A unique feature of this Championship was that it saw a huge involvement of sports buffs as well as enthusiastic participation of teams from across the district and even adjoining districts here at Basantgarh as Volleyball is one amongst the most popular sports in the rural belts of Jammu & Kashmir.
Young Heroes Club Basantgarh got better of Sports Club Lohai Malhar to clinch the championship. The winning team kept its nerve till the last shot in the fifth and final game. The scores of the Final match were 25-12, 26-28, 22-25, 25-22 and 15-12 and the Player of the Championship award went in favour of Tahir Mubeen of Young Heroes for his perfect all-round performance.
SDM Amit Sharma, who mentored the organization of maiden Basantgarh Open Volleyball Championship, was also the Chief Guest on the said occasion who distributed the prizes amongst the winning teams and consolation prizes among the support staff.
Afterwards, SDM also distributed uniforms and shoes amongst the poor and needy students of GHSS Basantgarh who belonged to poorest backgrounds as per the requests rendered in this behalf by concerned school authorities.
