| BJP presents memo to Chairman working group | | Principal of justice, equity be made mandatory, demands Hari Om | | JAMMU NOV-21 State Unit of the BJP has urged N C Saxena Chairman Working Group on ensuring good governance in Jammu and Kashmir to take serious note of the negative trends in the state polity and recommend a foolproof mechanism that makes the application of the principle of justice and equity mandatory. In a memorandum submitted to the Chairman, the BJP Vice President and party spokesman, who is also the member of the working group, said that such an approach on the part of this working group would go a long way in achieving the goal of good, fair and impartial governance in the State. Prof Om in his detailed memorandum has maintained that BJP being the national party cannot just afford to be parochial and its approach has all along been state-centric. It wants all the regions of the state and different people to prosper and feel that they are part and parcel of the state and government is solely guided by the principle of justice and equity. He regretted that it was not happening in the state adding that the state government has not treated Jammu fairly and in this connection referred to the setting up of new districts in the state and its decision to create 25 per cent additional assembly seats each in Kashmir and Jammu. He said this decision when implemented would automatically mean 58 seats for Kashmir and 46 for Jammu. This is again an injustice with Jammu region, as it has all along been demanding a fair share in the assembly based on land area, nature of terrain, accessibility and population. The BJP leader has urged the working group to look into the circumstances under which Jammu province was completely excluded from NABARD projects..
