| SDM attached on Sarpanches complaint | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, May 31 (KNS): The state government has attached Sub Divisional Magistrate Handwara, Farooq Ahmad, after a newly elected Sarpanch, Tariq Ahmad alleged the officer abused him and his companions when they visited his residence to apprise him about lack of transportation facility to their village - Haril-Shiekhpura.
Reports said the SDM has been attached and an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the facts.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Mohammad Shafi Rather confirmed the SDM has been attached. “Enquiry has been initiated against the official he has been attached,” Rather told KNS.
However, the officer denied the allegations saying the Sarpanch along with 100 other persons forcefully entered his residence and beat up the two policemen on guard.
“I called the Station House Officer for action under law. I have not done anything wrong,” he told KNS.
