Amarnath Yatra to commence on June 14: Niyas
5/31/2011 10:42:23 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May 31:

Resolute to begin the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra 15 days in advance from the official date announced by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASS), the Baba Amarnath Yatri Niyas (BAYN) today said the pilgrimage shall begin as per its schedule and the first batch of devotees shall leave from Jammu on June 14.
Addressing a press conference here today, President BAYN, Surinder Mohan Aggarwal said, ‘‘No one can stop us from starting the yatra on June 14 ….. Anybody dares to interfere in our programme, will have to face the consequences.”
Aggarwal informed that the registration process for the yatra has already been started by Niyas from May 1. The registration of pilgrims is going on both on the spot and through online on its official Website www.amarnathyatriniyas.org.
He said, “ The SASB is adopting an adamant attitude as despite our repeated requests it has refused to reconsider the commencement date of Yatra… Governor N N Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Shrine Board is also not willing to show flexibility which has become a hurdle in the early commencement of the pilgrimage''.
Aggarwal further said that four-member delegation on May 17, has accessed the actual situation for starting the Yatra from June 15, and it was quite evident from the report of the delegation that SASB had never ever intended to reconsider the requests of Niyas.
''We have decided to open our base camp office at Geeta Bhawan at Parade Ground Jammu on June 2 for making the arrangements of Amarnath Yatra and the distribution of 1.25 lakh ‘Shiv Raksha Sutras,'' shall be started from June 3 and will continue till June 7,” he added.
