NDTV sides with the pro-separatist & perverted Navlakha | Expulsion From Kashmir | | RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 31: NDTV 24X7 is not happy with the Omar Abdullah-led coalition government. The reason: It detained the so-called journalist and human rights and peace activist Gautam Navlakha and his companion Sebha Hussain, another so-called peace activist, on May 28 and sent them back to New Delhi the following day. Police took Navlakha and Hussain from the Srinagar International Airport, kept then under custody throughout the night and deported them from Srinagar the next morning. The state government took this action on the ground that their entry into Kashmir might disturb the peaceful environment in the Valley. It was a good decision. The National Conference president and Union Minister for Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has defended the action against Navlakha and Hussain and asked the likes of Navlakha and Arundhati not to put Kashmir on fire by poking their dirty noses in Kashmir. Both Navlakha and Arundhati Rai are known supporters of the radical Islamists, Kashmiri separatists and Maoist terrorists. It was this action on the part of the state government that infuriated the owners of the NDTV 24X7. They got infuriated to the extent that they took no time in organizing a debate on the expulsion of Navlakha from Kashmir at 10 p.m. on Monday with the so-called peace activist (read Navlakha) getting maximum possible time to pour venom on India and the Omar Abdullah-led government and attacking Chandan Mitra of The Pioneer. The anchor did not even allow Mitra to speak. He could only make a comment or two -- not really audible --, which made Navlakha all the more furious because Mitra defended the government action. The NDTV anchor repeatedly hailed Navlakha as a peace activist; she repeatedly questioned the action of the state; and she anchored the debate in a fashion that left none in any doubt that the NDTV stands for those fighting against India and demanding separation from Mew Delhi on religious grounds. The NDTV anchor repeatedly eulogized Navlakha as peace activist. Is he really a peace activist or is he a mercenary-cum-separatist? Go through the interview he gave to a local English language daily on November 12, 2010 and reach a conclusion yourself. What did he tell the interviewer? He, among other things, told: “Wherever the aspirations of masses will be suppressed with brute use of force a movement against that oppression will definitely arise which is legitimate in every sense. Kashmir issue is not restricted within UN resolution or the Instrument of Accession signed between Maharaja Hari Singh and Jawaharlal Nehru. The onus of making this struggle legitimate lies upon Indian government which used repressive and undemocratic means, including bungling in elections, unabated killings, rapes, molestation, disappearances and made Jammu & Kashmir economical dependent. All this resulted in the uprising of masses in valley…Only in slogans Kashmir is considered as integral part of India but if someone goes through the atrocities committed by forces in valley and other states, stone pelters were tackled by weapons only in Kashmir not in other states. In the last 20 years the massacre of thousands of people, unprecedented rapes and murders, illegal confinements, disappearances, gang rapes, besides other brutal atrocities have been committed by forces in Kashmir valley, against which none of the country's citizens had raised voice. But on the other side if such atrocities are committed in any other part of country whether in Bastar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, many people come forward but not in case of Kashmir. Then how it can be deemed a part of India? Kashmir was always treated as a colony and all atrocities are being committed upon the colonized people of Kashmir by the colonizer Indian state forces…Indian government should consider the demand of freedom of Kashmiris…” All this should serve to prove that Navlakha is rabidly anti-India and out-and-out pro-separatist. It is a different story that NDTV doesn’t consider Navlakha’s views as anti-India and pro-separatist. But this is understandable. After all, Barkha Dutt, Nidhi Razdan and Pankaj Pachauri are there to manipulate things in favour of Kashmiri separatists. They are no different from Navlakha. In fact, they are more dangerous because they control a section of powerful media. The moral of the story is that the state government has acted very wisely by deporting Navlakha from Kashmir. But this is just not enough. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who needs to refashion his own approach towards Kashmir and identify himself completely with the national cause in the Valley, has to go several steps further and not only to take on head on the disturbers of peace in Kashmir but also to ensure that no such peace conference is organized in Kashmir as the one Governor N N Vohra inaugurated on May 16. Besides, he should see to it that no foreign diplomat visits Kashmir in order to hobnob with Kashmiri separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasin Malik, Shah, Sajjad Lone or Bilal Lone and so on. They can visit Kashmir as tourists but not track II operatives.
