Panic grips Rajouri after blast in DFO’s quarter | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, May 31: Panic gripped the town here this evening after it was rocked by a powerful explosion that took place inside the official quarter of DFO, social forestry. No one was, however, wounded in the blast as social forestry DFO A R Mughal and his family were away in Jammu and the quarter was locked for the past two days, police sources said. The explosion which took place at about 6 pm, however, caused extensive damage to the kitchen in which it occured and other rooms of the quarter. Rajouri SSP Anand Jain said the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. "We have launched an investigation and the reason will be confirmed as soon as it is completed”, he added.Soon after the blast, Rajouri police station SHO, police bomb disposal squad and army troops reached the spot and laid a cordon around it. Army also pressed into service its sniffer dogs, the sources added.Sources believed that the blast was not caused by any explosive device as its splinters, or other remains were not found during examination of the site. The investigators, however, felt that it was caused by the building of unprecedented pressure of gas in the refrigerator, the sources added. The Rajouri police had registered a case in this connection and started a probe into the incident.
