| Omar to decentralize administrative, financial powers | | | Early Times Report
BANIHAL, Jun 1: Chief Minister (CM) Omar Abdullah is committed to decentralize administrative and financial powers to the people through these elected institution and holding of Panchayat elections in the state.
This was stated by National Conference (NC) leader Sajjad Shaheen today addressed two public rallies in Manjwas and Parihandar Neel of Tehsil Banihal. Rallies were organized to felicitate newly elected Sarpanches. Shaheen congratulated the newly elected Panches and Sarpanches to work with dedication and sincerity to the expectation of common people who have voted for them whole heartedly.
He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to decentralize administrative and financial powers. He said that real motive of holding the Panchayat elections was to empower the people at the grass root level so that they can effectively contribute in policy formation and implementation which forms the basis of a democratic set up.
Among those present in the meeting were Abdul Rashid Manhas, Sadiq Naik, Haji Mohammed Daing, Abdul Jabar Hajam, Ghulam Hussain, Alifdin Naik, Zarina Begum, Iqbal Manhas, Basher Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed, Habibullah Naik and Hajra Naik.
