| Peerzada reviews developmental works in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jun 1: Minister for School Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed chaired a meeting of Divisional Level Officers here today to review the delivery of public services, pace on the ongoing developmental and civic works besides, general law and order situation in Jammu region in general and, in the winter capital in particular.
Peerzada who is here on the rotational week long tour to attend the Jammu Summer Secretariat had a detailed review of essential services, including power, water and other civic amenities, besides various issues concerning the people of the region. Divisional Commissioner Jammu apprised the Minister about Power and water supply scenario, besides the general law and order situation.
Minister was also informed that the wheat crop in the Plain areas of Jammu has suffered from yellow rust and Girdawaries are being conducted to assess the loss so that the damages could be assessed and the farmers compensated accordingly. Minister laid special emphasis on maintaining adequate power supply and repairs of damaged feeder transformers on priority basis.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu briefed Minister about on-going developmental works and proposed works like widening of roads from Bus Stand to Amphalla, construction of fly over from Bikram Chowk to Satwari, ring roads to check traffic congestion, multi-tier parking facilities at City Chowk, Panjthirthi and Bus Stand Jammu.
Minister directed all officers to work with dedication and ensure that essential supplies and services are made available to the general public during the on-going summer. A decision was also taken to close the schools located in the Summer Zone for summer vacations w.e.f 6th of June 2011.
