DIG traffic gives tips for curtailment of road accidents | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June Ist:- A Joint meeting of officers and representatives of Transport was convened under the Chairmanship of DIG Of traffic, Mr Vijay Kumar today. The main object of the meeting was “Human Factors responsible for the accidents” and in this behest instructions were given to the participants and asked to implement in true letter and spirit, so that daily road accidents are curtailed. The instructions include maintenance of register of vehicles at operating stations, the concerned may make entries of every vehicle for arrival as well as departure and Vehicles coming from Jammu should halt at Srinagar at least for 6-8 hours, so that break/rest can be given to the drivers/vehicles. Besides, drivers who are driving the vehicles from Srinagar to Jammu and vice versa should not handover their vehicles to other operators travelling in the vehicles, so as to minimize the road accidents. In addition, overloading as well as over-speeding would not be tolerated at any cost and any one found offender shall be dealt with strictly. The DIG has also instructed that using of mobile phones and tape records should be avoided. The meeting was attended by RTO, Kashmir, SP Traffic City Srinagar, SP Traffic Rural Kashmir, representatives of Tata 407 Stands and representatives of Sumo Stands.
