Paryavaran Mitra Eco-Club students participating in WED | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 1: Jammu and Kashmir, Paryavaran Mitra Eco-Club students are participating in World Environment Day (WED) 2011 at New Delhi. One teacher and four students from Government Higher Secondary School Kishtwar and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Doda have been selected to represent the state. The selected participants are Bharti Sherawat teacher, Monika Arayan (class 12) and Deepika Sharma (class 12) from Kishtwar district while Ashwani Devi (class 12) and Renu Bhagat (class 12) from Doda district. Teams from Jammu and Kashmir shall take part in all competitions and events. Participation of J&K team has been sponsored by WWF-India and CEE. It is worthwhile to mention here that United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has named India for the first time as a global host country for 2011 World Environment Day. Union Ministry of Environment and Forests jointly with Centre for Environment Education (CEE) is hosting this event at Delhi from June 1 to 5, at Green Hatt (Dilli Hatt). Theme for WED 2011 is Forests: Nature at your service. During five days events like environment science exhibition, Folk dance mela, Environment quiz, painting & poster making and recycle and reuse of waste material shall be organized. Many workshops and lectures by eminent environmentalists shall also be organized.
