BJP activists held protest against erratic water and power supply | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: Hundreds of BJP activists from ward numbers 20 and 21 falling under Gandhi Nagar assembly constituency held massive protest demonstration at Gole Market under party’s recently launched campaign against irregular supply of electricity and water besides price-rise hike under the leadership of Gandhi Nagar Mandal President Arun Khosla. Arun Khosla, while addressing the party activists, said that the people are made to suffer on account of unscheduled and long power cuts. The supply of drinking water is not regular. In many areas, people have to walk for kilometers to fetch a single bucket of water. People are protesting, sitting on dharnas, visiting the offices of higher officials of PHE and PDD with their grievances. Expressing deep concern over the price hike, Khosla further said that there has been manifold increase in the prices of petroleum produts like petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene oil, which has direct impact on the prices of other items required for the survival of a common Indian. Only hollow claims of bringing down the prices are made by the government but the situation is getting worsened. He said that the Congress-led UPA and the State’s NC-Congress coalition should wake up and work towards solving the problems of the people. It is the responsibility of every government to ensure regular supply of electricity and adequate safe drinking water but it has miserably failed to come upto the expectations of the people, he alleged.
