Kashmir poised to witness industrial boom shortly: Slathia | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 1: State’s biggest Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) at Lassipora Pulwama, spread over area of about 6000 kanals of land, is all set to provide a congenial industrial atmosphere with 55 units already gone into production with an investment of about Rs 145 crore. The Minister for Industries & Commerce, Surjit Singh Slathia today visited the IGS and inspected some outstanding industrial units including M/S Zum Zum Milk Processing unit, Harshana Naturals- a cold chain factory for fresh fruits, M/S Mohees Rolling Flour Mills and some poultry and hatchery units to take stock of facilities available to the unit holders. While speaking to a gathering of Industrialists and young entrepreneurs, the Minister reiterated Governments resolve to provide all the possible facilities to encourage and generate industrial cultural in the State, which he said was imperative to provide dignified job avenue for the unemployed youth of the State. He sought cooperation of all the stakeholders in maintaining peace and order in the State particularly in the Kashmir valley which was primarily important to encourage investment here from the big industrialists of the country. Slathia announced to set up a separate power grid station of 10 MVA inside IGC Lassipora for exclusive use of the unit holders to ensure round the clock power supply for running their units. He also announced to provide about 10 kanals of land for opening an emergency hospital in the growth Centre to provide adequate healthcare facilities to the unit holders and labourers working in various industries. The Minister announced to commission a modern Rs 33 crore Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) in the IGC in first week of July to allow the leather processing industry to grow as seven leather processing units have already been registered. The Minister also distributed allotment letters of industrial plots to some new entrepreneurs. Earlier, the MD SIDCO while welcoming the Minister gave a detailed account about the activities in the IGC and said 49 industrial units include 21 food processing units, 7 leather processing units, 13 cement products, 6 Hatchery and 17 poultry units have been registered so far some of which have even gone into production. |
