| AJKSKMP hails massive participation in Panchayat polls | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 1:
While hailing record Panchayat poll percentage and massive participation of people in J&K State Panchayat elections, Sardar Kalu Khan Hamdard, president All J&K State Kissan Mazdoor Party (AJKSKMP) in a good will gesture greeted the newly elected Sarpanchs from Jammu province.
Addressing a press conference here today, Sardar Kalu Khan Hamdard reminded the newly elected Sarpanches that they are the true representatives of people and that the basic responsibility of development of their blocks rested with them for while they should work with dedication and honesty.
He said that the faith reposed by the people in them should be respected by fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
Khan also asked the Government to grant powers enshrined in the constitution to the elected Sarpanch at the earliest. So that the basic purpose of the development of the Halqa Panchayat is served.
He said that without the devolution of powers to the Sarpanchs the whole exercise of the holding these elections by the State Govt will die a natural dead as seen in the past.
