Natrang’s, ‘Children’s Theatre Camps’ to start from June 9’

JAMMU, June 1: ‘Children’s Theatre Camps-2011’- one of the major annual theatre events by Natrang is beginning from 9th of June, at Natrang Studio Theatre. This was disclosed here today by Natrang director Balwant Thakur in a press briefing held at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu.
One camp will be conducted by Sumeet Sharma and the other will be conducted by Neeraj Kant and two major children’s production will come up in these camps. Giving details about this ambitious theatre happening in the town Balwant Thakur said that this time Natrang is holding two camps with two different timings.
The morning camp will be between 8 to 10 am and afternoon camp will be between 4 to 6 pm. These are going to be a forty day training programmes for children and between the ages of 7 to 15 years of age.
These are going to be a production oriented camps in which a full-length plays will be produced and will be performed in a festivals of children plays at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Commenting on the various camps being organized in different schools he said that unfortunately they are not being handled by the professionals.. Natrang in this regard offers a rarest opportunity for children and based on our past accomplishments parents will certainly rush to Natrang.
Theatre is one of the most effective medium of human development and Natrang in the last twenty-nine years have developed such training methodology for children which has shown amazing results. Drama is one of the arts through the practice of which children may grow and mature as superior human beings.
Balwant Thakur further said that we should attempt to train children, as far as we can, to see as to look, to hear as well as to listen, to observe with knowledge and imagination; to perceive, to relate, to associate. Others who spoke on the occasion included Sumeet Sharma who has successfully conducted past five theatre camps of Natrang and have established a name for himself as an expert of children’s theatre and theatre for personality development.
