EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, June 1: Arrangements with regard to security and deployment of security personnel for smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2011 were reviewed at a high level meeting held here today. The Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda chaired the meeting which was attended by senior officers of JKP and other para-military forces.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP stressed upon security and intelligence agencies to work in a close coordination with each other to ensure Yatra is conducted in a befitting manner which is commencing from June 29. He said that security and other arrangements should be made for the yatris from Lakhanpur to holy cave. He disclosed that for the assistance of yatris enroute the yatra, special reception and assistance booths will be established at different locations in the State. He stressed upon the intelligence agencies to gather information regarding the activities of anti-national elements and keep them under close vigil. He also said that law and order should be maintained at every cost at all levels to run the yatra smoothly.
The DGP urged the officers to ensure strictly that the yatris do not go head before the scheduled date of yatra which could create difficulties for both yatris as well as the administration. He also stressed for making fool-proof arrangements for smooth travel of Charri Mubarak up to the holy cave and return.
The meeting was informed about the deployment of manpower by various security agencies. It was told that the deployment has been worked out by the agencies in coordination with each other and all necessary arrangements have been made at all sensitive places across the State.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held with regard to communication network, regulation of traffic, parking of vehicles and mobilization on both the yatra routes of Pahalgam and Baltal. It was decided that sufficient manpower will be deployed on both these routes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic so that yatris do not face any inconvenience.
It was also decided that a better communication network system will be set up at different locations across the State up to the holy cave to facilitate the better coordination among the agencies. It was also decided that medical aid camps will be established by the department at various places to treat the police and other security personnel deployed for duty as well as the yatris also.
