Chaman’s expulsion to impact political dynamics of J&K in coming months | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 1: Expulsion of senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta from the primary membership of the party is bound to change the dynamics of the state politics in the coming months. Gupta who commands support of six other MLA's is bound to carry the flock together to drive better bargain in case he takes the final call and align with like minded group of leaders. At the same time he is in no mood to go down without causing dent in the vote base of the BJP in Jammu region. Though the party high command has not taken any decision against the six other legislators already suspended from the party they are expected to stay united else they would invite trouble for themselves under anti-defection law and may end up losing their berth in the state legislature. Isolated by the party high command Prof Gupta and his supporters are already contemplating new political alignments and are holding close door meetings with the senior leaders of the political parties to explore the possibility of joining their ranks. At present not many political leaders who are maintaining close contact with the disgruntled expelled BJP leader are ready to own their company but highly informed sources revealed that section of leaders belonging to National Conference, Congress and PDP are all maintaining close contact with the selected lot of suspended BJP MLA's to win their support in the event of any political development. It is no political secret that the 7 out of 11 BJP legislators had voted in support of the alliance candidates during the legislative council polls and may not mind joining the alliance or lending outside support to further strengthen the coalition. |
