| Jammu, Samba share inter-district kho-kho titles | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 01: Jammu district boys clinched under-17 year kho-kho title defeating Doda in the title-clash, while Samba thrashed Jammu to claim under-14 trophy in the Divisional Level Inter-District Kho-Kho Tournament at Youth Hostel, Nagrota today.
In under-17 years final, Jammu outplayed Doda by 5 points (14-9) in a well contested match. Shammi Kumar and Sushil earned maximum points for Jammu while Ganesh Singh and Rajat played well for Doda. Jammu boys displayed excellent motor-ability and sharp reflexes to maintain the early lead and the Doda boys failed to match their skill.
Earlier, in under-17 semifinals, Doda drubbed Rajouri by six points (11-5), while Jammu trounced Udhampur by nine points (14-9).
In under-14 finals, Samba thrashed Jammu by one turn and 6 points as Sahil, Ajay and Sunil played brilliantly for Samba district.
In semifinals of under-14 group, Samba outclassed Reasi by 6 points (8-2), while Jammu beat Udhampur by 5 points (8-3).
As part of the annual calendar of activities of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the Divisional Level Inter-District Kho-Kho Tournament for boys’ under-14 and under-17 years was held under the overall supervision of SS Bali, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu. He distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jeet Singh, Manorama Sharma, Sarita Pandha, Kiran Jyoti (All zonal physical education officers) and Raj Kumar, warden Youth Hostel, Nagrota.
The officiating panel included Rakesh Kakkar, Rakesh Kumari, Rajesh Sambyal, Sham Singh, Suraj Dev Singh, Kulbir Singh, Gagan Kumar, Shashi Sambyal and Anju Rani.
