EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU/DODA, June 1: Twenty four persons, including 20 Vaishnodevi pilgrims and two cops, were wounded in separate road accidents here today. Yashpal Singh of Batala, Punjab, was repairing his truck (PB23G/6585) at Jakh near Vijaypur, about 23 km from here, when a speeding bus (UP85E/9336), which was carrying people from Mathura to Vaishnodevi, hit it at about 4.30 am. In the incident, Yashpal and at least 20 Vaishnodevi pilgrims, including women and children, sustained injuries. All of them were admitted to Vijaypur hospital, police sources said. However, following deterioration in their condition, Neha, Arti, Pinki, Ajam Mittal, Guddi, Mahesh Pal and Reena were referred to the GMC hospital here. Headconstable Rukum Din, cop Firdous Ahmad and Mohammad Yousaf of Shiva were injured when a Tata Sumo hit a motorcycle on Doda-Dessa road at Chinar near Akramabad, Doda. The injured were hospitalised. Police had registered cases in this connection. |
